Had only been to Yakitori Totto once before for lunch last year, which was a good experience. But wanted to try them out again for dinner since I was in the area, and it had been a long time. And it did not disappoint! I had a great experience! First, I was eating solo, which is not always easy for some places. Sometimes, the seating placement isn't great, the ambiance can be too loud, or the waiter might focus on a bigger party, but not my case. It was empty since I came around 4-5pm. I'm sure at dinner or the weekend, it gets busier, so might be good to make a reservation. My server, Grun, was very attentive, prompt with food and service, and even put a lamp at one of my tables since I was eating solo and it was getting dark. Great vibe for New England winters. The restaurant also has a feel of a Japanese restaurant with its wood and bottles and setup, which I thought was nice. And lastly, 2 clean bathrooms, which is something that most diners don't notice but I do. With that in mind, I got a few appetizers and skewers. I really loved the Japanese tamago omelette and the combo skewers. Everything was cooked fresh in front of me. I can see it getting pricey if you get a lot of food and alcohol, but getting a few skewers and appetizers was only 40. I'll def be back if I am in the area solo or for a date. I just love unique places with variety that you can share. All about the experience and this place delivered!

The tofu dessert was out of the world. We were fighting to get one more spoonful of the tender dessert. It was not overly sweet and fruit garnish was just the right amount too. The miso soup was good. The edamame was cooked perfectly. The beef skewers were nicely done and flavorful with the good amount of marbiling. I loved the long grilled shrimp tooo. Overall it was a good experience.

Great place to get some Yakitori and other interesting Japanese dishes! We ordered the Nasu Mizore Gare which was deep fried eggplants with a couple pieces of mochi in a bowl of savory broth. We also had the Maguro Zuke - tuna sashimi slices which was super delicious and full of flavor. As for the Yakitori, we got the Hotate Eringi and the Combo Mambo. There was enough food for two to be sufficiently full! We also ordered the Yawaraka Annin tofu which is very similar to panna cotta and was super delicious and enjoyable! This place was great and the atmosphere is really nice as well, would highly recommend for a date or a bar night

I was not sure what to expect when we decided to eat here. The service, drinks, and service were all excellent. We started with appetizers of eggplant, peppers, and dumplings. Ut was surprising to me that entrees were various skewers of various proteins, all of which were perfectly prepared.

My husband and I absolutely ADORE this place!!! I’m so grateful such an awesome team works here! I also want to especially name drop Nat, Grun, Imm and Hieu!!! They’re the best in all of New England!! We love the whole team, but haven’t gotten the chance to talk to everybody yet. The food is world class! We’ve been coming here regularly for 2 and a half years, and have never once been disappointed by anything we’ve ordered. Highly recommend the Negi Pon, any of the Onigiri flavors, the Unagi, and you gotta have the cheese wontons! We get these ALL the time! The vibe is also great. The music is always the right volume, and the song choices create the perfect atmosphere for a great night out. If you’re into drinks, there are some really unique things on the menu (like the Makku, a mango rice beer), and every cocktail is delicious on top of having funny names. Lately we’ve been hooked on the Emotionally Damaged - don’t read too deep into what that says about us haha. At any rate, if you like drinks, you can’t go wrong with any of the offerings here!

Loved the food and atmosphere here! It’s different than other yakitori restaurants I have been to which is not a bad thing! It had a relaxed and slightly more elevated environment which made the evening lovely. All of the skewers we tried were amazing (listed below) and I thought the agedashi tofu was especially good. The crust had a really pleasant mouthfeel which was a bit reminiscent to mochi or a rice roll - probably due to the potato starch. Sometimes agedashi tofu can taste a bit floury or chalky but this was neither. All of the skewers were great - my personal favourites were the garlic, negi pon, harami, and eringi. Negi pon Ton toro Yaki onigiri - soy sauce miso Harami Garlic beef Eringi Shishito Shiitake Garlic Yaki nasu

Honestly, this is the BEST yakitori in the U.S.—well, other than the original restaurant in New York, probably. This place was opened by a real Japanese chef from NY, and the Boston area is so lucky to host its second location! The yakitori is incredibly flavorful, and they serve all the rare cuts—chicken skin, heart, soft knee bone, tail, chicken oyster... it’s like being in Japan!!!! And their homemade tofu is to die for! Please come and open a restaurant in the Bay Area, California (where I’m from). Please!!!!

Absolutely incredible experience. Arguably some of the best yakitori I’ve found yet in Boston. Tried several different items and everything had a unique flavor. Small portions but so filling!
